Hungarian Fuzzy Association
The establishment of the Hungarian Fuzzy Association The association was first formed in 1990, as an affiliate of European Chapter, at the Eötvös Lóránd University according to the articles of the International Fuzzy Systems Association. Its founder co-chairmens were Tibor Vámos and László Kóczy, the secretary-general was Margit Kovács. It held its reorganizing meeting under the name of Hungarian Fuzzy Associate at the Bánki Donát Technical College on 30 January 1998.30 researchers from universities or colleges working in fuzzy or related areas took part in that meeting and about the same number excused themselves, saying they would like to participate in the work of the association in the future.
One of the reasons to establish the association was the new basic rules of the International Fuzzy System Association (IFSA). According to these rules, individual membership in IFSA has been ceased since the beginning of this year, it is possible to join the association only through national organizations. The other reason was that theoretical and applied fuzzy and computational intelligence research in Hungary have played an important role internationally too. The number of Hungarian experts dealing with this area has become hundreds. Hungary had a deputy-chairman in IFSA in the person of László Kóczy and we have been represented in different other important associations.
The field of interest of the Hungarian Fuzzy Association includes all the disciplines known under the collective designations of 'Soft Computing', 'Intelligent Techniques', and 'Computational Intelligence'. Therefore its function is not limited to fuzzy logics and the theory of fuzzy sets but also includes the following topics:
- fuzzy technologies,
- neural networks,
- genetic algorithms,
- modeling uncertainty,
- hybrid systems,
- applications.
